Why this course exists

AI is an excellent tool once you know what to ask. I use it every day. The problem with learning low-level game dev from scratch is exactly that: you don't yet know what to ask. You don't know descriptor sets exist, that command buffers have a lifecycle, that swap chain plus presentation mode is a whole class of bugs.

YouTube has excellent material (The Cherno, Brendan Galea, Acerola, Casey Muratori), but it's spread across hundreds of hours, in different orders, in English. You become your own curriculum editor. The Forge is that curation done for you: the right sequence, one project from start to finish, in Portuguese, with support when you get stuck.

What the course covers

Three fronts, one spine project: an isometric game written from scratch in C++ and SDL2, then refactored to OpenGL, and finally a Vulkan renderer. In total: 35 modules, about 80 hours of lessons and 50 hours of guided practice.

Front 01 · C++ for game dev (13 modules)

From build system (CMake) to game loop: window and input with SDL2, sprites, isometric projection, tilesets, game mechanics (planting, time, HUD), and a deep dive into memory, RAII, and smart pointers. Ends with building and distributing the binary for Linux and Windows.

Deliverable: a complete isometric game, written from scratch, running on your GitHub.

Front 02 · OpenGL, the graphics pipeline (10 modules)

What actually happens on each draw call: GLSL shaders, VBO/VAO, textures, model/view/projection matrices, 3D camera, Phong lighting, framebuffers, and post-processing.

Deliverable: the same game from Front 01, refactored to run on OpenGL.

Front 03 · Vulkan, explicit GPU control (12 modules)

The explicit API from scratch: instance and validation layers, devices and queues, swap chain, render pass and pipeline, command buffers and synchronization, buffers and descriptor sets, SPIR-V, an intro to compute shaders, and debugging with RenderDoc.

Deliverable: a Vulkan renderer running the course game.

Who it's for (and who it isn't)

It's for you if: you want to build your own games instead of assembling parts in Unity or Unreal; you already code in a modern language (JS, Python, Java) and want to cross the C++ barrier; or you're an experienced dev who wants to understand what the machine actually does again.

It isn't for you if: you want a finished game in a week, you're after a LinkedIn certificate, you want the click-and-deploy engine experience, or you bail at the first segfault.

Before you join, confirm

  • It's dense. Around 130 hours of active study (lessons + practice). At 10h a week that's 3 to 4 months; with less time, it takes longer.
  • There are no quick results. Low-level game dev takes months to master, not days. If you want to "ship a game in 30 days", this course isn't it.
  • You will have to code. Watching videos isn't enough: the course is hands-on, with segfaults and debugging along the way.
  • It's in Brazilian Portuguese. Examples, code comments, and explanations are all PT-BR.
  • The refund window is 7 days (Brazilian Consumer Law). Use it to complete Module 0 + 01 and truly evaluate. After that, no refund.

Frequently asked questions

How do I pay?
Pix (instant) or credit card (up to 12 interest-free installments) via Stripe. Access is released right after confirmation.
What if I don't like it?
7-day refund window (Brazilian Consumer Law, art. 49). Buy, open the course, and do Module 0 + 01 (setup + first window). If within that window you can't compile your first C++/SDL2 window understanding what's happening, I refund 100%, no questions asked. After 7 days there is no refund, so use that window to actually evaluate.
Is access really lifetime?
Yes. That includes Fronts 02 (OpenGL) and 03 (Vulkan), still in production: buyers get every drop at no extra cost.
How far along is production?
Front 01 (C++) is the priority and is being built first. Fronts 02 (OpenGL) and 03 (Vulkan) come after, as progressive drops, with dates announced in the community as they're ready. The launch is set for January-February 2027 to give each front the time it needs to be built with real depth, without cutting corners.
What if seats run out?
The first batch is 50-100 students to keep support quality high. If you miss it, you join the queue for batch 2, at full price, without the early bird.
Do I need a powerful PC?
For Front 01 (C++ and SDL2), any laptop from the last 5 years works. For Front 02 (OpenGL) and Front 03 (Vulkan), a dedicated GPU (or a modern integrated one) helps; Vulkan requires an API-compatible GPU. The exact requirements ship with the material.
Can people outside Brazil buy?
Yes, Stripe accepts international cards. But the course is taught in Brazilian Portuguese. If you don't read Portuguese fluently, I don't recommend buying (yet).

About the language

Deep C++, OpenGL, and Vulkan content barely exists in Portuguese today. That's the gap the Forge fills. Heads up: the course is taught in Brazilian Portuguese. If you don't read Portuguese fluently, this isn't the course for you yet; an English version (Forge) is planned to follow in 2027.
